Munducaku Protected Spring
24 Aug 2011
Unsafe water or lack of water produces misery and death; safe and clean water brings life, health and well-being. The gift of safe water can totally change lives, and also change a whole community.
Last week we had a great day with the people of Lumara where we have helped the community to protect a polluted water source. They named the protected spring Munducaku, meaning ‘the white man can’t not reach’. There is no road leading to this village, no car has ever visited. It’s a three km walk from the nearest path suitable for a motorcycle! The people of Lumara say ‘Now the REALLY white man has reached their village and thank you to ORA Uganda and the people of New Zealand’.
A donation of $220 towards ORA New Zealand’s Safe Water Project fund could provide a water filter for a family; $3,300 will protect a natural spring from pollution; $14,800 could drill a borehole that will provide fresh, clean water for a large community; $1,200 would repair an existing well. We would love for you to partner with us in our Safe Water Project.
